Sometimes, that style of sleeve is called a flutter sleeve.

14.01.2020 – Angie, do you have advice on how to wear ruffles for ladies with short arms? Ultimate glam in this dramatic sequined style from Odylyne the Ceremony. But bracelet is my best sleeve length, and my absolute favorite of your Finds is the Carolina Herrera jacket.

I have two BR wool long sleeve ruffle sweaters which I pull up a little so they are not as long. I love them and they warm up my hands nicely.

I think the ruffles on blouses can have an arm shortening effect particularly if the ruffles are short and end in the middle of the forearm where they visually cut the length.

Same goes for the ones with the firm looking ruffles. I love the dress that you pictured here. Angie, do you have advice on how to wear ruffles for ladies with short arms?

Ruffles seem to be more suitable for long arms. I have one subtle bell sleeve in a simple navy knit. For me, the proportions have to be just right.

A floaty top with a high neck, and a bell sleeve with seam near the bust fails the JFE test. As your Finds demonstrate, the proportions and fabrications vary a lot!

I like this trend.

Part of what I like in my wardrobe is a sense of ease even in the dramatic pieces. My floral FP tunic has a subtle bell sleeve with a split.

I love how it looks. I hate the amount of time those sleeves spend being dunked into my food. Really not ideal for sushi-eating.

Not practical for my life. The Eliza J dress is my favorite of the finds but I like others, too. I will enjoy seeing these sleeves on others but find them too fussy for myself.

In the past they have never lasted long in my wardrobe. I have always loved the drama and romance of bell sleeves.

They also work OK on things like jackets and cardigans that can be removed when necessary. I actually have a knitting pattern for little flared cuffs kind of like fingerless mitts but with less hand coverage that give kind of a bell sleeve look but can be taken off for things where they would get in the way.

So for me this is just a case of a trend cluttering up clothing I would otherwise have loved to own. For example, absent the ruffled bell sleeves, that JCrew eyelet shift would have been a perfect item for me.

The geometric shapes in the eyelet pattern save it from being overly cutesy and the bold coral is a color I enjoy wearing in summer.

I love streamlined bell sleeves with not much volume in soft fabric. I used to wear them a lot about 15 years ago. But now they are not practical for my life.

I am always freezing in my office and I am never without topper.

And this type of top is best on its own. Surprisingly to me I really like this trend and have already bought a short sleeve top with a flounce sleeve, a sweater with a short bell sleeve and a cotton top with a long bell sleeve.

I would choose to wear the subtler versions because excess fabric would get in the way in my busy life. The Oscar de la Renta one pictured is my ideal version of this look.

Subtle, beautiful for evening wear and the sleeve is practical. I like this look, and bought a BR sweater with a bell sleeve this winter, but as staysfit, and others mentioned,it can be annoying when washing your hands.

I just have to go out and find something with this sleeve!
